HCPC regulation
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is the statutory regulator for hearing aid dispensers (HADs) and clinical scientists (CSs) in the UK. The HCPC’s standards set out what it expects of its registrants. All NCHA members are expected to comply with HCPC standards.
Standards of conduct, performance and ethics
The standards of conduct, performance and ethics set out the framework in which all HCPC registrants must work to. The HCPC also uses these standards in the event a service user raises a concern about a registrant.
Standards of proficiency
The HCPC regulates 15 professions and uses the standards of proficiency to set clear expectations of registrants’ abilities and knowledge, scope of practice and other key principles. Each profession the HCPC regulates has its own unique standards. Again these are also used if somebody raises a concern about a registrant.
Standards of continuing professional development
Finally, the HCPC expects registrants to continue to invest in their professional development through self-directed CPD. These standards set out requirements and expectations to remain on the HCPC register. Read the HCPC CPD standards.
