AHCS takes control of RCCP register

Following our 27 May update, the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) has confirmed that all business regarding the RCCP has been transferred to its control with immediate effect. The change sees Paul Burgess, Chair of the RCCP, step down from his role. Read more.

Promoting hearing health in primary care

In the Hearing Journal, Gordan Glantz discusses leveraging technology to promote hearing care in primary care settings. The article covers normalising testing and screening by making it more accessible using new technologies. It also includes using behavioural nudges to encourage family doctors - via electronic medical records - to organise hearing tests in at-risk groups and developing partnership working across the health and care sector. HCPC confirms increase in fees

The HCPC has now confirmed renewal fees will increase by £8.12, with clinical scientists (audiologists) the first to pay the new fee beginning on 1 July. Hearing aid dispensers will pay the increased fee as of 22 May 2022. Read more.

HCPC launches reflective practice materials for registrants

This week the HCPC launched new materials on reflective practice. The HCPC said it hoped these new resources would help registrants benefit from learnings during the pandemic and help support prevention-focused regulation. Learn more.  

Get involved - NHS newborns screening consultation

Public Health England has launched a consultation on proposed changes to the newborn hearing screening programme. You now have an opportunity to provide feedback on whether:

• The standards are clear
• There any issues we have not addressed
• You agree with the thresholds.
