The NCHA at the 2014 Autumn Party Conferences
The NCHA exists to achieve better hearing for all and to promote the role of primary care in delivering better hearing outcomes for local people in their community. In 2014 we will be taking this message to the major political party conferences for the second year running – and NCHA members are encouraged to get involved.
The NCHA has always maintained that hearing care deserves representation at the highest level. That’s why we started attending party conferences before we launched last year, joining with BSHAA and other primary care organisations to hold events and reach out to politicians, healthcare professionals and decision makers.
This year we are joining up with our colleagues from Pharmacy Voice, the British Dental Association and the Optical Confederation to promote the role and potential of primary care.
It is important because the NHS is much more than GPs and hospitals. Our four organisations collectively represent nearly 100,000 healthcare professionals working in over 30,000 community premises close to local people.
What we are doing for the 2014 Autumn Party Conferences
For party conferences we are focusing on how to improve healthcare outcomes for local people in their community and how to keep them healthy for longer.
Together with our colleagues in primary care we are spreading the message that on an average day, millions of people are visiting dentists, opticians, hearing aid dispensers and pharmacies for treatment and advice on how to keep healthy. Properly utilising our skills, workforce and accessible locations in the community holds the key to transforming primary care and public health outcomes in this country.
Every contact with the public counts. We want to see greater collaboration, closer working across our professions, and with GPs, to improve primary care. We are calling on the next Government to work with us to make this a reality.
How can members get involved?
