Calls to protect bandwidth frequency used by hearing instruments
The British Irish Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (BIHIMA) has issued a warning that the bandwidth used by hearing instruments could be compromised due to competition from smartphone and tablet companies.
BIHIMA has called on politicians and regulators to protect the 2.4 GHz bandwidth and to provide a buffer of 20 MHz to ensure people that depend on hearing technology are not adversely affected.
The National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) and other charities are also working with regulators and sector partners to ensure people that depend on hearing instruments continue to benefit from these without interference caused by other electronic devices.
