£16 million gift for hearing research

Massachusetts Eye and Ear has received an anonymous gift of over £16m for its preeminent hearing research centre.

The gift to the organisation, which is part of Harvard Medical School, is one of the largest ever philanthropic donations for hearing research.

Bradley Welling, Professor and Chair of Otolaryngology, Harvard Medical School, said:

“This historic donation to our research program comes at an exciting time, when advances are happening every day, and we are closer than ever before to developing new treatments to restore hearing.”
