HCPC revises standards of education, training and guidance

The Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) has revised its standards for education and training (SETs).

Key changes in the updated guidance include:

  • New standards requiring inter-professional education, learner involvement and supporting learners to raise concerns
  • Strengthened links between the SETs and the standards of conduct, performance and ethics
  • Making key terminology broader, inclusive and up to date with current terminology used in the health sector.

The revised SETs, which come into effect over the 2017/18 academic year, are available alongside guidance here.

The HCPC assesses education and training programmes against SETs. Completing an SET-compliant programme is a prerequisite to register with the HCPC.
