HCPC issues statement on conflicts of interest
The Health and Care Professions (HCPC) and other healthcare professional regulators in the UK have published a joint statement on conflicts of interest.
The statement sets out expectations of registrants in relation to avoiding, declaring and managing conflicts of interest across all healthcare settings.
The regulator expects registrants to:
- Put the interests of people in their care first
- Maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries
- Consider carefully where conflicts of interest may arise – or be perceived to arise – and seek advice when required.
- Where appropriate, ensure that patients have access to visible and easy-to-understand information on any fees and charging policies for which you are responsible.
The full joint statement can be downloaded here. The HCPC has also published a case study which can be downloaded here.
