Update: Professional regulation consultation

As members will know, the BAA, BSHAA and NCHA met in December to discuss the Promoting professionalism, reforming regulation consultation. The professional associations agreed to call for statutory regulation and to challenge any attempts to deregulate based on analytical models that are not fit for purpose.

The professional associations have since submitted separate responses to the consultation. The responses present different evidence but call for the same outcome. The NCHA’s response focuses on creating a strong and unified audiology profession which can then help transform hearing care in the UK, improving access for patients and reducing pressure on medical colleagues.
