Successful BAA, BSA and BSHAA event in Leeds

This week, the NCHA attended ‘Towards a Connected Future’, the first joint event by the BAA, BSA and BSHAA, in Leeds.

The pilot towards a connected future conference was well attended and a success according to feedback from exhibitors and delegates.  There was broad support for future sector events to be connected, with large attendance numbers offering more cost-effective conferences for delegates, exhibitors and the sector.

Highlights of the event included a presentation from Curtis Alcock, who shared a story about the power of social norms and the benefits of collaboration, and Dr Piers Dawes who gave an evidence-based lecture on what we do and do not know about hearing loss and dementia.

Commenting on the event, Harjit Sandhu of the NCHA said, “We were very pleased to be an exhibitor and support this event. We had great conversations with delegates, all of whom were well informed and positive about the future. This event clearly attracted the best of audiology and showed how when the sector gets together we can create an environment for growth and innovation. The old days of silo working appear to be fading away and that is good for audiology as a profession, the sector and most importantly the population we serve”.
