Life-saving 999 BSL service goes live

The 999 British Sign Language (BSL) service went live on 17 June, giving BSL signers across the UK equal access to the fire, police, ambulance and coastguard emergency services.

The '999 BSL' app is available to download on iOS or Android devices or people can use the 999 BSL website to contact 999 in BSL.

Its launch follows a campaign by RNID with Sign Health and Ofcom to support the Deaf community with a 999 service and increase deaf awareness among emergency services staff.
